Symantec Data Loss Prevention 25.1 delivers an update that will expand DLP coverage, simplify DLP operations, and strengthen our integrations. At the same time, the update will further help customers embrace emerging use cases such as adopting AI while addressing data loss prevention needs, meet their stringent internal security mandates, and enhance the user experience for DLP system administrators. DLP 25.1 was well received during our BETA testing with customers and we encourage our customers to upgrade to this latest version to benefit from all the new features in this release.

Customer Benefits

Symantec Data Loss Prevention 25.1 offers the following benefits:

  • Better Protection: Expanded DLP endpoint agent support on the new ARM64 based Windows platform. The OCR system now also supports the Hebrew language for detection
  • Stable browser monitoring: DLP agent now integrates with Google Chrome Enterprise, Microsoft Edge for Business, and Mozilla Firefox for Enterprise on Windows via native APIs to ensure continuous, stable monitoring cross future browser updates
  • Addressing AI use cases: A new AI model file classifier is available to help customers identify common AI models built using frameworks including PyTorch, ONNX, and TensorFlow, etc. The new agent integration with all three popular web browsers via API can also help monitor user interaction with popular GenAI web applications
  • Stronger security: DLP now can use Thales Hardware Security Module (HSM) to manage its bootstrap encryption key. CyberArk password management tool can now be used to store network credentials for our Network Discover product. Kerberos authentication is now an additional option for Enforce to Oracle connectivity. A Read-Only RBAC option is available to limit user interactions in Enforce console.
  • Broader integrations: New APIs in policy management, user & role management, and Network Discover target management will help customers integrate our DLP solution as part of their CI/CD pipeline and DevOps process as well as with other security tools. We also added SID-based integration with Microsoft Entra-ID joined Windows endpoints to ensure continuous agent monitoring for customers using Entra-ID
  • Simplified upgrades: For systems on DLP 16.1, Enforce will be forward compatible with future higher versions of detection servers to reduce upgrade complexity. Also,  LiveUpdate for endpoint agent updates has been enhanced to eliminate network saturation. Additionally, we enhanced the EDM (and other) index profile update/distribution mechanisms to only push profiles to detection servers as needed to save bandwidth.
  • Better reporting & workflow:  Enforce now supports multi-tabbing to enable remediating multiple incidents at same time. Reporting filter has been enhanced to report on DLP incidents generated via OCR, or MPIP decrypted content. We also improved Incident Deleter to support multiple deletion jobs per DLP channel.
  • Increased resiliency: DLP now automatically produces a Disaster Recovery Configuration File which can be used to quickly install a new DR instance of Enforce in the event of a disaster.
