Subject:  General Availability Announcement for SSL Visibility 4.5.10.1

On behalf of Broadcom, we appreciate your business and the opportunity to provide you with high-quality, innovative software and services.  As part of our ongoing commitment to customer success, we regularly release updated versions of our products. Today, we are pleased to announce that SSL Visibility 4.5.10.1 is now available.

SSL Visibility 4.5.10.1 provides the following new changes and enhancements.

SSLV host categorization mechanism updated from WebFilter to Intelligence Services

  • The SSLV Host Categorization service allows policy to be tailored to the URL category destination of an SSL flow. With this feature, the user can write a policy for a specific type of traffic, based on the URL's category.

  • The Host Categorization service relies on the Blue Coat Host Categorization database, which must be downloaded to the SSL Visibility appliance. Previous to the 4.5.10.1 release, SSLV used BCWF (Blue Coat WebFilter) service for the host categorization feature. However, BCWF is reaching end-of-life in August 2023. Therefore, SSLV updated the Host Categorization mechanism to use BCIS (Blue Coat Intelligence Services).

Overload protection enhancement

  • In SSLV 4.x systems, crypto operations are carried out by using three different resources. Crypto operations are done in Netronome Flow Processor (NFP) cryptography hardware, dedicated software crypto CPUs, and Crypto Helpers.

  • The pre 4.5.10.1 overload detection logic checks the NFP hardware and the dedicated CPU software crypto resources usage, but does not monitor the Crypto Helpers. The new enhanced overload protection mechanism will monitor Crypto Helper resources and enters overload state when they are highly utilized.
