Dear Symantec VIP customers,
On behalf of Symantec, a Division of Broadcom, we appreciate your business and the opportunity to provide you with high-quality, innovative software and services. As part of our ongoing commitment to customer success, we regularly release updated versions of our products.
Today, we are pleased to announce the release of Symantec VIP Authentication Services – 2026.January.01.
This release provides the following new features and enhancements:
- Detailed SMS & Voice Usage Reporting – Gain granular visibility into SMS and voice authentication consumption, success rates, failures, and country-wise usage for better auditing.
- Targeted Authentication using a Specific Credential (Security Code) – Improve user experience and security by authenticating against a single selected credential instead of attempting validation of security code against all registered credentials. Available as an optional parameter in the authentication API.
- Automatic Administrator Disablement Due to Inactivity – Strengthen security posture by automatically disabling inactive administrators after a configurable period, reducing insider risk.
- Customizable End-User Emails for Administrator Actions – Increase transparency by notifying end users through branded emails when administrators add, modify, or remove credentials or remembered devices.
- Enhanced Protection Through Post-Migration Credential Disablement – Protect against unauthorized users spoofing credentials by automatically disabling VIP Access credentials after device migration. Credentials can be re-enabled by an administrator after the user provides authentication.
- Controlled Self-Registration in My VIP – Enforce stronger security policies by restricting which credential types end users can self-register through the My VIP portal.
- Enhanced Auditability for Administrator Operations – Simplify troubleshooting and compliance with request-ID visibility for administrator actions performed through VIP Enterprise Gateway.
- Configurable Entra ID View (Hidden by default) – Protect against unauthorized disclosure by hiding Entra ID External Authentication Method details by default.
- Technical improvements and security upgrades - This release includes technical improvements and security upgrades.
