Subject:  General Availability Announcement for CA Datacom REST API 1.0 0000 for z/OS

On behalf of Broadcom, we appreciate your business and the opportunity to provide you with high-quality, innovative software and services.  As part of our ongoing commitment to customer success, we regularly release updated versions of our products. Today, we are pleased to announce the CA Datacom REST API 1.0 0000 is now available for licensed CA Datacom customers on Release 15.1 of the base CA Datacom/DB™ for z/OS Plus product.  

Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) provide modern, scalable access to z/OS services, tools, and data. With the CA Datacom REST API, you can use modern development tools to maintain your CA Datacom applications and leverage your mainframe investment.

As part of the Broadcom CA Database modernization strategy, APIs play a role in transforming the mainframe for hybrid IT by making the mainframe a more integrated and agile platform.

The API also addresses a skills challenge; by providing a familiar and flexible way to interact with traditional mainframe platform, it can help ease new DBAs and developers into mainframe roles by allowing them to work with familiar tools and environments.

REST API Architecture

The CA Datacom REST API is built on the representational state transfer (REST) architecture.

Supported Actions

The CA Datacom REST API lets you perform the following actions to manage and monitor your CA Datacom databases.

• Monitor batch, online and Server activity occurring in the Multi-User Facility
• Monitor growth of CA Datacom Datasets, Log File
• Investigate performance

Example Use Cases

As a developer or database administrator, you can use the REST API in the following ways:

• Facilitate automation of CA Datacom administration
• Empower current and next-gen CA Datacom users to monitor mission critical CA Datacom systems using modern tooling
• Remote monitoring/management
• Basis for future enhancements to allow DBAs to execute commands in the Multi-User Facility
