Subject:  General Availability Announcement for AutoSys Workload Automation 12.0.00.00

On behalf of CA Technologies, a Broadcom Company, we appreciate your business and the opportunity to provide you with high-quality, innovative software and services.  As part of our ongoing commitment to customer success, we regularly release updated versions of our products. Today, we are pleased to announce that AutoSys Workload Automation 12.0.00.00 is now available.

New features for AutoSys Workload Automation 12.0.00.00 include:

  1. Install and Upgrade Experience: Redesigned the installer to provide seamless and simplified install and upgrade experience. Followings are some of the highlights of simplified AutoSys install.

  • Introduction of platform based ISOs instead of component based ISOs
  • Consolidated ISO which install all the required components such as AutoSys (Engine), Web UI, Shared components, Agent etc. from a single platform based ISO
  • Bundled AdoptOpenJDK JRE 8 with the flexibility to use your own Oracle JRE or any other compatible JRE of your choice
  • Analyzing install prerequisites and validating user inputs upfront instead of reporting issues late in the cycle
  • Capability to create database and user has been extended for Web UI
  • Error messages are presented upfront instead of customer looking at them in the logs

  1. Native 64-bit support: Modernized stack based on 64-bit binaries which is backward compatible with supported 32-bit clients, agents, and AutoSys servers.

  1. Web Services Orchestration (REST and SOAP): Easier and more flexible orchestration capability of web service applications. It provides ability to run one web service with the response data value(s) from another associated web service which helps in performing business operations without the need to external processing of request and response. There are couple of ways to extract the data from the response.

  • User can extract the relevant information and store it into defined variable and then this variable can be used in subsequent jobs

  • Store/Persist entire response (in the Database) and based on the need of subsequent job, relevant information can be extracted using expressions (XPath, JSONPath, RegEx) from the response of the first job.

  1. Improved Web UI Collector Design for Performance: The web UI collector design has been enhanced to improve collector performance by supporting concurrent distribution of load across multiple systems and the ability to leverage additional memory from the 64-bit architecture.

  1. Password Vault support via Symantec Privileged Access Manager (PAM): Managing the credentials is made easy by integrating AutoSys with the Symantec Privileged Access Manager (PAM) with the objective of stronger security, reduced administration and coordination of credentials across disparate application.

  1. Centralized Agents Upgrade: The centralized agent management feature has been enhanced to manage agent upgrades using AutoSys Web UI. User can now schedule agent upgrades for future date/time or on demand. Also provided is a mechanism to rollback agent upgrade as desired by user or automatically initiate rollback should the agent upgrade fail.

  1. Rename a Job: Provides the ability to easily rename an AutoSys. Renaming a job is now a simple process. Dependent jobs are automatically updated with new name in current and cross instances of AutoSys r12. Name changes are logged to autotrack.

  1. RESTful Web Service jil Interface: Extending REST API to import and export JIL object definitions to manage the workload effectively and efficiently. Users can perform JIL Syntax check and import/export definitions of objects such as job, machine, calendar, resource, connection profile, and xinstance.

  1. Custom Schema Owner and Database User: Provides consistent database administration and enables reduction in total cost of ownership by providing. For example, multiple AutoSys instances could share the same Oracle server should it have sufficient resources.

  1. Platforms and Databases Certification: Continued the effort to support new platforms, AutoSys Workload Automation now supports the following additional platforms:
  • MS SQL Server support for Linux
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
  • Oracle Enterprise Linux 8
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15
  • MSSQL Server 2019
  • Oracle 19c
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
