Subject:  General Availability Announcement for Symantec Privileged Access Manager v4.2

On behalf of Broadcom, we appreciate your business and the opportunity to provide you with high-quality, innovative software and services.  As part of our ongoing commitment to customer success, we regularly release updated versions of our products. Today, we are pleased to announce that Symantec Privileged Access Manager v4.2 is now available.

New features for Symantec Privileged Access Manager v4.2 include:

PAM Gateway for RDP
The PAM Gateway for RDP available in this release enables users to establish PAM sessions on Windows target devices in a supported Microsoft Remote Desktop client instead of opening RDP access methods in the PAM Client.

Support for Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) Hosts
PAM now supports KVM. To create a hardware-based PAM server, you can configure a physical server as a KVM host and deploy a PAM Virtual Machine on it.

Deploy and Manage Utility Appliance Service Patches with Utility Appliance v2
Utility Appliance update service patches provide updates for new PAM releases, periodic fixes, and new functionality.

Utility Appliance Documentation Improvements
There are additional topics to help you use utility appliances on specific platforms and situations:
  • How to Deploy a Utility Appliance on AWS
  • After you deploy your utility appliance on AWS, you then Configure a Utility Appliance on AWS with PAM .
  • A sample procedure how an administrator can Deploy a Utility Appliance on Azure
  • A PAM utility group makes fault tolerance decisions based on its quorum. You can see how that quorum is defined, as well as how the quorum determines its fault tolerance, and how many members the utility group can lose and continue normal operations in the Utility Group Fault Tolerancetopic.
  • To learn how to reset the Utility Appliance password to its default value, see Reset the Utility Appliance Password

    Validate PAM SC Policy Syntax
When creating or updating a policy, you can use the new Validate button to verify the policy. Specifically, using Validate confirms the accuracy of the selang rule syntax, helping to ensure that you deploy the policy without errors, saving time troubleshooting the policy deployment errors.

    Deprecated Features:
The Autokey Mode For Secure Communication With Time Servers Is Obsolete
When you upgrade to PAM 4.2, all configured NTP servers that were using the NTP v4 autokey for authentication automatically update to use the non-authenticated NTP configuration. As a result, the Authenticated NTP tab, normally displayed in previous releases when you select Configuration, Date/Time, has been removed.

All fixes and enhancements delivered in the v4.1 (and all service packs) releases are also included in this latest v4.2 release.

We have included a Product Brief that details the features and highlights of this release.  We also encourage you to visit the Symantec Privileged Access Manager product information page on the Broadcom Support Online website at https://support.broadcom.com/ for more information.
