Subject:  General Availability Announcement for Layer7 API Developer Portal 5.3.2

The Layer7 product group of Broadcom's IMS division is pleased to announce that the Layer7 API Developer Portal 5.3.2 is now available. This release provides key enhancements based on customer feedback and user experience improvements.

Congratulations to the team for reaching this important milestone and for continuing to deliver value to our customers.

Here are the highlights of this Layer7 API Developer Portal release:

  • OAuth DCR based API Keys - The API Portal can now be configured to register API Keys with an external OAuth provider using the OAuth Dynamic Client Registration (DCR) API (requires support of DCR by the external provider).
  • [Preview] External API Key storage via Gateway remote key/value storage Assertion - An API Key Store may now be defined as a remote key store. Communication to the remote key store is based on the Layer7 API Gateway’s remote key/value assertion using Redis and installation of the OTK is not required when using a remote key store. Note that capability is “Preview” and will require approval from Broadcom prior to use in a production environment.
  • OpenAPI spec validation for runtime policy enforcement - A policy template may now be added to APIs that allows the configuration of validating incoming requests against the provided OpenAPI specification.
  • API Key Expiry Notification options for Org Publishers - API Key Expiry notifications may now be configured to be sent to Org Publishers when an Org Admin is not defined for the Organization.
  • UI Breadcrumbs for Improved Navigation - Navigation has been improved by allowing users to see where they are in the current UI navigation hierarchy and to easily go back multiple levels.
  • Additional Rate/Quota enforcement for Portal API endpoints - Rates and Quotas can be configured via the PAPI Settings endpoint to limit logins and PAPI authentication to further enhance protections against brute force attacks against these endpoints.

End of Support Notice

The following capabilities are considered deprecated and subject to removal in the next release of the API Developer Portal.

  • OData Portal API (PAPI) Endpoints - All OData-based Portal API (PAPI) endpoints are now considered to be deprecated and will be removed in the next release of the Portal. Please see the product documentation for more details.
  • API Plans and API Groups - As of the Portal 5.3.1 release, both API Plans and API Groups are considered to be deprecated in favor of API Products. While these will not be removed immediately, it is important to evaluate your use of API Plans and API Groups and work with Broadcom to identify any blockers that may prevent the migration to API Products.

For a complete list of enhancements, changes and deprecated capabilities, please see the release notes, deprecated features, and product documentation for more information.

NOTE: The Broadcom private repository for Helm images will be updated with the release artifacts soon. Once available, the ability to get an access token will be enabled on the Broadcom Support download site.
