Subject:  General Availability Announcement for Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.3 RU8

On behalf of Broadcom, we appreciate your business and the opportunity to provide you with high-quality, innovative software and services.  As part of our ongoing commitment to customer success, we regularly release updated versions of our products. Today, we are pleased to announce that Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.3 RU8 is now available. These updates are available to all Symantec customers who are using Symantec Endpoint Security (SES) Enterprise, Symantec Endpoint Security Complete, or Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP). Symantec Security Cloud customers can also benefit from the single Symantec Endpoint Protection client that enables web filtering and content analysis for web applications.

New features for 14.3 RU8  include:

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM)

  • Enhancements to Hybrid Management of SEPM from the Cloud: In a multi-server hybrid environment, SEPM will do a self test validating its ability to be a hub before the failover occurs
  • The PAC file mode in Web & Cloud Access Protection policy will be deprecated, customers should migrate from PAC to Tunnel Mode technology.
  • TAA (Targeted Attack Analytics) events are now displayed on SEPM - This feature provides additional visibility within the SEP Manager console when a targeted attack is detected
  • 12.x content removal - The SEP Manager will no longer store content for 12.x agents thereby freeing up disk space requirements
  • Remove generic known risk exceptions - SEP Manager will no longer permit overly permissive exceptions from being created instead relying on the customer creating more targeted exceptions

Symantec Endpoint Protection Windows Agent

  • MSFT ACS Signing (Azure Code Signing): Microsoft now requires security vendors to sign binaries using ACS
  • Support for Edge Browser Extension for Browser Intrusion Prevention, which applies IPS web browser signatures to the inbound and the outbound browser traffic on the client
  • Enhance EDR channel to support detection events, allowing for more contextual information including target information for behavioral detections and MITRE enrichment
  • Extend the existing EDR commands
    • For LiveShell and GetFile to leverage 2FA authentication
    • Support to retrigger quarantine devices and restore files from quarantine commands
  • Application Control Guardrails - overly aggressive application control policies are no longer permitted/enforced
