Subject: General Availability Announcement for Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.3 RU9 for Mac and Linux
On behalf of Broadcom, we appreciate your business and the opportunity to provide you with high-quality, innovative software and services. As part of our ongoing commitment to customer success, we regularly release updated versions of our products. Today, we are pleased to announce that Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.3 RU9 for Mac and Linux is now available. These updates are available to all Symantec customers who are using Symantec Endpoint Security (SES) Enterprise, Symantec Endpoint Security Complete, or Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP). Symantec Security Cloud customers can also benefit from the single Symantec Endpoint Protection client that enables web filtering and content analysis for web applications.
New features for 14.3 RU9 include:
Symantec Endpoint Protection Mac Agent
- Quarantine Device - Customers can now isolate a device from the network when the device is at risk or the device is compromised with a malware infection.
- Host Integrity - Customers can now enable the host integrity feature for Mac for having the device checked against compliance rules that are defined by the admin via the Host Integrity Policy. These checks are reported to the SES console and forwards them to SAC so that it can enforce the device posture via WSSA.
- Device Control - Bluetooth Protection - Customers can now create device control policies on Mac for bluetooth devices that can be blocked or allowed based on Vendor ID, Major Class (Device Type) and Address.
- EDR - Forensic Data Report - Customers are now able to request On-demand collection of a standardized snapshot of key macOS metadata.
- Granular EDR Rules - The agent now supports granular rules for filtering out noisy activity. These rules can be created manually or automatically via our groundbreaking Adaptive technology that utilizes AI to identify benign behavior and leaving only high-value signals.
- Best Application Performance Scan - The enhanced Best Application Performance scan no longer acts as the old Idle Scan that paused when the device was busy and resumed when the device became idle. It will continue to scan with a constant low CPU usage of less than 100% and will complete the scan after a longer time than the other 2 full scan modes, Best Scan Performance and Balanced Scan. It will become the best option for those customers who have a higher concern on CPU usage.
- SymTraceLog - Enhanced valuable logs that the mac agent provides for better troubleshooting.
Symantec Endpoint Protection Linux Agent
- Granular EDR Rules - The Linux agent now supports granular rules for filtering out noisy activity. These rules can be created manually or automatically via our groundbreaking Adaptive technology that utilizes AI to identify benign behavior and leaving only high-value signals.
- SEDR (On-prem) Full Dump support of Endpoint Activity Recorder (EAR) events
- SEDR (On-prem) Custom CA Certificate Chain support
- EDR Network Collector architecture (eBFP) enhancement resulting in significant performance improvement across all EDR supported linux distributions
- Kubuntu 22 Distro Support: Symantec's industry proven auto protect, Antimalware and EDR capabilities support on Kubuntu 22 operating system for full runtime protection and visibility of Kubuntu workloads.
- Symantec endpoint linux agent enhanced to leverage the consolidated URLs
- Linux SAV CLI tool Enhancements:
- ‘sav manage –group’ option will now display the full path of the client group.
- ‘sav manage –server’ option will now display the server the client is connected to.
- Linux agent AutoUpgrade support – Cloud managed linux endpoints can now be upgraded to the latest linux version from the portal based on your policy configurations
