Subject: General Availability Announcement for Layer7 API Developer Portal 5.4.1
The Layer7 product group of Broadcom's IMS division is pleased to announce that the Layer7 API Developer Portal 5.4.1 is now available. This release provides key enhancements based on customer feedback and user experience improvements.
Congratulations to the team for reaching this important milestone and for continuing to deliver value to our customers.
Here are the highlights of this Layer7 API Developer Portal release:
- Configuration Intelligence (on-premise only) - Configuration Intelligence enables customers to gain powerful insights into the Layer7 API Gateway configuration and policy. Customers may register their existing API Gateways with the Portal even if they are not using the API Portal already for API Management use cases. Once Gateways are registered, customers may create rules that look for and report on various conditions such as certificates nearing expiration, policy missing certain policy assertions, insecure JDBC connections, and much more.
- Multi-Language Support - French is now provided as an included language for the API Portal. Administrators may configure the portal to support French and/or English. Users may select their preferred language if both are enabled.
- API Catalog for Non-managed APIs - APIs that are not protected by the Layer7 API Gateway may now be registered in the API Portal. This provides customers with the ability to catalog all of their APIs in a single location. APIs added to the portal in this manner will be for documentation and discovery purposes only.
- Custom Fields for User Registration - Custom fields may now be defined for users allowing for additional information to be collected during the user registration process.
- Bulk API Editing Enhancements - Bulk API Editing has been expanded to include Tags, Management Permissions, and Custom Fields
- GraphQL PAPI: Single Endpoint for API CRUD - The Portal API has been expanded to provide a GraphQL interface for managing APIs. This provides the ability to manage APIs using a single request instead of using multiple requests previously required via the REST endpoints.
- Bulk Product Access Management - The managing of access to API Products and Tiers is now supported using bulk operations allowing for a more efficient user experience.
- API Key Format Configuration - API Keys may now be configured to use the UUID format providing improved interoperability with customers’ existing identity solutions.
- Portal Swarm Installation Improvements - The config.sh script now provides a menu-driven user experience providing improved management of Portal configuration as well as improved error handling.
End of Support Notice
Please take note of the following:
- API Hub - The out-of-the-box API Hub is now considered deprecated. This means that no new features or enhancements will be made to the API Hub that is included with the API Portal. You may continue to provide your own external API Hub implementations and register those with the API Portal. The API Hub is still present in this release, but is now subject for removal as soon as the next release.
- API Plans and API Groups - As announced previously with the Portal 5.3.1 release, both API Plans and API Groups are deprecated in favor of API Products. While these will not be removed immediately, it is important to evaluate your use of API Plans and API Groups and work with Broadcom to identify any blockers that may prevent the migration to API Products.
For a complete list of enhancements, changes and deprecated capabilities, please see the release notes, deprecated features, and product documentation for more information.
NOTE: The Broadcom private repository for Helm images will be updated with the release artifacts soon. Once available, the ability to get an access token will be enabled on the Broadcom Support download site.
