Subject:  General Availability Announcement for Layer7 API Developer Portal 5.3.3

The Layer7 product group of Broadcom's IMS division is pleased to announce that the Layer7 API Developer Portal 5.3.3 is now available. This release provides key enhancements based on customer feedback and user experience improvements.

Congratulations to the team for reaching this important milestone and for continuing to deliver value to our customers.

Here are the highlights of this Layer7 API Developer Portal release:

  • Rate Limits & Quotas for API per Application - provides a new Rate Limit and Quota level to align with API Plans functionality to allow for migration away from API Plans which has been deprecated as of Portal 5.3.1
  • Migrate API Plans to Rate Limits & Quotas for API per Application - Provides a Portal API (PAPI) endpoint to facilitate the direct migration from API Plans to the API per Application Rate Limit and Quota
  • [Preview] Layer7 Operator Support - The portal now supports deployments along with the Layer7 Operator allowing the management of APIs with gateways deployed in kubernetes (including ephemeral gateways)
  • Removal of Deprecated Portal APIs - As announced with the Portal 5.3.2 release, all OData-based Portal API (PAPI) endpoints are now removed.
  • Custom Roles Framework - Establishes the base framework to ensure all access is based on permissions instead of predefined roles. This enables the ability to create and manage custom roles which is planned to be supported in the next release.

End of Support Notice

Please take note of the following:

  • OData Portal API (PAPI) Endpoints - As announced with the Portal 5.3.2 release, all OData-based Portal API (PAPI) endpoints are now removed. Please see the product documentation for more details.
  • API Plans and API Groups - As announced with the Portal 5.3.1 release, both API Plans and API Groups are deprecated in favor of API Products. While these will not be removed immediately, it is important to evaluate your use of API Plans and API Groups and work with Broadcom to identify any blockers that may prevent the migration to API Products.
  • Policy Templates based on the Gateway Policy Plugin - Going forward, only policy template bundles created using the Graphman JSON format will be supported. Templates created with the Gateway Policy Plugin are deprecated and no further enhancements will be provided.

For a complete list of enhancements, changes and deprecated capabilities, please see the release notes, deprecated features, and product documentation for more information.

NOTE: The Broadcom private repository for Helm images will be updated with the release artifacts soon. Once available, the ability to get an access token will be enabled on the Broadcom Support download site.
