Subject: General Availability Announcement for Clarity Release 16.3.1
On behalf of Broadcom, we appreciate your business and the opportunity to provide you with high-quality, innovative software and services. As part of our ongoing commitment to customer success, we regularly release updated versions of our products. Today, we are pleased to announce that Clarity Release 16.3.1 is now available for On-Premises and SaaS customers.
New features for Clarity Release 16.3.1 include:
Expanding to Projects and Products
- Integrated Product Planning
- Roadmaps: Send Roadmap Items, from a scenario, to Rally to automatically create Portfolio Items
- Frictionless Cost Accounting (aka Frictionless Time)
- End-user option to create Timesheets for Investments w/o the need to allocate Staff or create Assignments
- Add Team ID to Time Entry and Transactions (Database Only)
- Capital Forecast: Financial Work Type attribute is available for Tasks & Cost Plans
- Administration settings to enable and configure Frictionless Cost Accounting
- New job creates Timesheets using Rally data for a specific Team & time period
Lifecycle & Workflow Management
- Business Rules *
- With Staff as an available target object, administrators can conditionally set Staff module content as read-only at a certain stage or allow defined resources with update privileges
- An Administrator option to configure rules to display the modal when specific attributes (e.g., Target attribute) are changed or when a certain condition is met
- Agreements Expansion
- End user ability to create, edit & delete Agreements from the Investment Timeline
- End user ability to create, edit & delete Agreements from a selected Investment
People-Centric Planning
- Staff scenarios *
- Additional capability to ‘publish’ specific changes from a scenario, and select which changes will be published, to impacted Investments
- Includes two new access rights to publish all scenarios or only those scenarios owned by the user
- Staff modules
- An administrator Blueprint option to secure Staffing workspace modules (e.g., Allocation by Investment, Allocation by Resource, Assignments by Investment, Assignments by Resource, Staff, and Investments) based on access groups
- Additional capability to ‘publish’ specific changes from a scenario, and select which changes will be published, to impacted Investments
Foundations for Future Insights (BETA)
- Additional capabilities to the new ‘Reporting’ workspace supporting the Report Designer, and Report Viewer, with Data Provider design and Data Warehouse updates
- Report Viewer
- New access rights:
- Reporting - Reports - Navigate (provide access to the Reporting workspace ’Reports’ tile)
- Reporting - Report Viewer - View - All (provides access to view all Reports in the new Reporting workspace)
- Several out of the box reports are included
- Ability to view reports that can include widgets and tables along with filtering capability (if enabled by the Report Designer)
- Individual report Tab can be exported to PDF format
- New access rights:
- Report Designer
- Ability to define new, or modify existing, reports using a “canvas” like designer that supports several Reports from within in a ‘canvas’ including widgets and tables along with additional filtering capability
- Improved search capability for selecting data provider dimensions and metrics
- Ability to include per-period metric dimensions in bar and column charts
- Ability to include per-period metrics within a Table
- An option to include the Total row within a Table
- An option to ‘auto-fit’ Tables within the report layout
- Configure report-level and widget-level filters with the option to expose to the Report Viewer
- Reorder Tabs within a single report
- An option to enable responsive or fixed layouts, including the report header and footer
- Introducing an ‘Attribute container’ that supports pagination based on its configured attributes
- Data Providers (building blocks for the new reporting solution)
- Ability to create custom Queries that can join to other queries or the out-of-the-box data provider objects
- Leverage OBS attributes in the Grid, Filters, and Group By
- Support for dependent lookups
- Out-of-the-box Data Provider - Posted Transactions across Investments, which displays posted WIP transactions from the DWH
- Data Warehouse (DWH)
- New DWH option to refresh the DWH instantaneously as data is updated in Clarity
- Includes support for Per-Period Metric updates from the time-slicing jobs
- Ongoing updates to align Objects and Attributes from the transactional system (e.g., Risk Factor and Checklists)

Customer Voice
- Impersonate a user *
- An administrative option to impersonate an active user in Modern UX when they are enabled for impersonation, to troubleshoot an issue, verify access rights, or validate new capabilities
- Global Search (ALPHA) *
- An Administrator option to define which Object attributes are searchable
- Supported attribute types include String, Large text - Plan text, and Large Text – Rich Text
- An end-user capability to find Clarity information using keyword search
- An Administrator option to define which Object attributes are searchable
- An Administrator option to define company-specific left-navigation menu labels to provide clear and descriptive names
- Just-In-Time (JIT) User Creation
- Automatically create a Clarity user based on a Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) request
- Only available with Clarity environments enabled with single sign-on (SSO) authentication
- Clarity Information Center will now use Integrated Content Experience (ICE)
- Improve the user experience by introducing a ‘Microservice Broker’ designed to offload real-time processing of long-running requests or portions of requests from the Clarity application server
- Automatically create a Clarity user based on a Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) request

ALPHA - This is an alpha feature that reflects functionality actively under development and may contain bugs, errors, and/or other issues. It is being made available as a courtesy to allow familiarity with the feature prior to potential future release; use of this feature is entirely optional. This feature is provided “AS IS, WITH NO WARRANTIES.” Broadcom does not guarantee the availability of this alpha feature, and any outages or downtime of the alpha feature will not count towards service credits pursuant to Broadcom’s service level agreement. There is no guarantee, representation, or obligation that the alpha feature will ever be made generally available in future releases of the product. Material changes to the functionality may be made with or without notice prior to general availability.
BETA - This is a beta feature and may contain bugs, errors, and/or other issues. This feature is provided “AS IS, WITH NO WARRANTIES.” Broadcom does not guarantee the availability of this beta feature, and any outages or downtime of the beta feature will not count towards service credits pursuant to Broadcom’s service level agreement. There is no guarantee, representation, or obligation that the beta feature will ever be made generally available in future releases of the product.
This release includes improvements related to the WCAG 2.1 & 2.2 A, AA accessibility standard with the inclusion of numerous foundational accessibility improvements encompassing Visual Design (e.g., color, contrast, visible focus), Responsive Design (e.g., pop-up windows, text areas, and browser zoom), Keyboard (e.g., key input, tab order, & focus), and Screen readers (e.g., semantics, hierarchy, & pages structures).
If you are an On-Premises customer, you can download your copy of Clarity Release 16.3.1 online at Broadcom Support where you can also utilize Broadcom’s case management system. To install your product, follow the installation procedures for your product at Tech Docs. If you are a SaaS customer, your environment will be automatically upgraded to the new release at a scheduled time following the 16.3.1 GA release date. This change allows customers greater flexibility in your upgrade planning process. In accordance with the Broadcom Service/End of Life Policy within the “Working with CA Support” guide available at Broadcom Support Online, please consider this communication your written notification that support for Clarity Release 16.3.1, all patch levels, all languages, will be discontinued as of November 30, 2027.
