Support Lifecycle (From V24.0.0)
Automic Automation has a 5-year Support Lifecycle from the date of release of a major version.
The lifecycle of a version includes a major version, minor versions, service packs and hotfixes.
Important!
- A minor version is superseded by the subsequent minor version.
- Service packs and / or Hotfixes are only released for the latest minor version.
- Only the latest minor version is supported and maintained. If no workaround exists you will be asked to update to the latest minor version.
- V24: The latest minor version is v24.4.x and this will be the only version receiving maintenance and support until the end of support date.
Release Cadence
Automic Automation has releases with the following periodicity:
- Major versions are planned for every 21 to 24 months.
- Within a major version, every three months either a minor version or a service pack is released.
This guarantees that security vulnerability fixes are delivered on a quarterly basis. - Hotfixes are released when necessary, but only for the latest available minor version.
Release Content
Format: MM.VV.SP (MM Major, VV Minor, SP Service Pack)
Major Versions can include the following:
- Major architectural changes
- Significant new functionality
- In certain situations, they can require a migration from the previous version.
Minor Versions are upgrades from the previous release on the same major version; this means that they are
compatible with the previous release on the same major version. They can include the following:
- New functionality without major backend changes
Service Packs DO NOT include new functionality. They can contain the following:
- Bug fixes
- Performance optimizations
- Compatibility updates
- Security updates
Hotfixes include bug fixes and high priority security patches.
Applicability
The defined Product Support Lifecycle is applicable for the following products:
- Automic Automation V26
- Continuous Delivery Automation V26
- Automic Automation V24
- Continuous Delivery Automation V24
This guideline is not applicable for:
- Content (Cloud Integrations, Action Packs, Template Packs, Application Agents, AWI Plug-ins...)
Only the latest version of an integration for a specific, underlying Automic product version is under active maintenance and support. It is required to deploy the latest available version of an integration for the underlying Automic product version to benefit from Bug Fixes, new functionality and support.
