Due to changes introduced in Mozilla Firefox 99, Symantec Data Loss Prevention is unable to monitor Firefox on Windows endpoints.

Background: Symantec has observed a code injection failure that prevents monitoring with Symantec Data Loss Prevention 15.7 and 15.8 on Windows endpoints.

Workaround: Symantec recommends that you not install Firefox 99 on Windows endpoints.

If you have already updated to Firefox 99, or if you are unable to avoid the update, consider the following alternatives for monitoring Firefox:
  • Deploy DLP network controls to monitor Firefox traffic.
  • Configure Application File Access Control for Firefox to enable monitoring for file uploads, folder uploads, and drag and drop.
Note: Clipboard monitoring is not possible using this method.

April 13, 2022 update: Mozilla has released Firefox 99.0.1 which includes a fix for the code injection failure. Symantec recommends that you update Firefox to version 99.0.1.
