Last Update: November 6, 2023: Symantec Data Loss Prevention version 16.0.1 (RU) (build #60678 available for download starting on 6 November 2023) provides a fix for the pre- and post- validator characters issue available at the Broadcom Support Portal.

Problem Statement

The custom data identifiers with pre- and post-validator characters are overwritten if you are upgrading from Symantec Data Loss Prevention 16.0 (including from 16.0 MPs) to 16.0.1 RU (16.0.10000.60631). This occurs only if you created or edited custom data identifiers in the 16.0 system (including in MP versions).

Overwriting pre- and post-validator characters may cause issues with detection.

Resolution

Download the updated platform installation binaries from the Broadcom Support Portal and perform the upgrade.

If you have installed 16.0.1 RU using binaries downloaded before 6 November 2023 (build #60631), but you have not completed the upgrade, uninstall Symantec Data Loss Prevention version 16.0.1 (build #60631), then use the latest version binaries.

If you upgraded to DLP 16.0 RU before 6 November 2023 from a version 16.0 (including from 16.0 MPs) system that uses custom data identifiers, see the article 275654.
