Subject:           End of Service announcement for CA API Gateway 8.x

CA Technologies is continually working to improve our software and services to best meet the needs of our customers. In accordance with our CA Support Policy and Terms (https://support.ca.com/), please consider this letter your written notification that we will discontinue support for CA API Gateway 8.x (also known as Layer7 SOA Gateway), and all service packs and cumulative releases, beginning April 30, 2019. This will allow our Development organization to more effectively focus its resources on and add value to the current and next releases of the CA API Gateway.

We encourage you to plan for the migration to CA API Gateway 9.0 or later as soon as possible, so that you can take full advantage of the latest new features and enhancements that CA has to offer.  For additional information on CA API Gateway, please visit the CA API Gateway support pages at https://support.ca.com/

Notes

The End of Service of CA API Gateway 8.x applies to all editions of the CA API Gateway:

  • SOA Gateway
  • XML Firewall
  • API Proxy
  • XML Accelerator

This notice also applies to the following related products:

  • Enterprise Service Manager (ESM) versions 1.11.x through 1.14.x
  • OAuth Toolkit (OTK) versions 2.0 through 3.1.2.
  • Gateway Migration Tool (GMU) versions 1.0.x and 1.1.x

CA Technologies would like to make your upgrade to a newer version of the CA API Gateway as seamless and straightforward as possible:

  • A no-charge product upgrade on applicable platforms to CA API Gateway 9.0 or above is available for any customer with an active maintenance contract.  Please contact CA Support at https://support.ca.com or your local CA Account Manager for details on your migration to CA API Gateway 9.0 or above
  • CA Services are available to provide consulting services for any or all parts of the upgrade, including analysis of the current system, preparation for the upgrade, testing, and performing the upgrade.  Please visit https://www.ca.com/us/services-support/ca-services/upgrade-services.html for more information.
  • Where applicable, hardware upgrade options are available for CA API Gateway hardware appliances.  Please contact your local CA Account Manager for details.
  • CA provides an accelerated appliance upgrade process for virtualized appliance form factors:

o   Virtual Appliance
o   Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
o   Azure image
o   Software installation

This process is designed to enable customers a quicker and easier upgrade path between versions.  This upgrade process is documented at https://docops.ca.com/ca-api-gateway/9-2/en/install-configure-upgrade/upgrade-the-gateway/expedited-appliance-upgrade, and can be used to upgrade any version of the CA API Gateway to version 9.2 or above.

  • CA Extended Support, which extends support for CA Technologies software versions that have reached End of Service, is available for the CA API Gateway.  Extended support will be offered for up to 12 months after April 30, 2019, up to but not beyond April 30, 2020.
