1.0 Welcome

Welcome to AllFusion Data Model Validator r7.2, a member of the AllFusion Modeling Suite. This file contains operating system support, system requirements, installation considerations, supported databases, and information about contacting CA Technical Support.

2.0 Operating System Support

AllFusion Data Modeler Validator requires that you have one of the following operating systems installed:

  • Microsoft Windows 2003 Server

  • Microsoft Windows 2000

  • Microsoft Windows XP

    3.0 System Requirements

The following requirements must be met or exceeded for AllFusion Data Model Validator r7.2 to install and run correctly:

  • 85 MB Hard Disk Space

  • 512MB RAM (1GB recommended for large models)

    4.0 Installation Considerations

AllFusion Data Model Validator r7.2 is enabled for use with AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler r7.2 and AllFusion Model Manager r7.2. Note that you cannot open *.ER1 files in AllFusion Data Model Validator r7.2. You can convert an *.ER1 file to *.erwin format by opening and saving the file in AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler r7.2.

    5.0 Supported Databases

The following database systems are supported by AllFusion Data Model Validator r7.2:

  • DB2/zOS (7, 8)

  • DB2/UDB (8.x/9.x)

  • ODBC/Generic (2.0, 3.0)

  • Oracle (8i, 9.x, 10.x)

  • SQL Server (7.0, 2000, 2005)

  • Sybase (12.5/15)

  • Sybase IQ (12.5)

    6.0 General Considerations

AllFusion Data Model Validator r7.2 uses the AllFusion ERwin DM API to detect whether or not AllFusion ERwin DM is generating indexes on foreign keys. This ensures that the product does not mistakenly report the absence of those keys.

    9.1 Release Numbers on Documentation

The release number on the title page of a document might not correspond to the current product release number; however, all documentation delivered with the product, regardless of release number on the title page, will support your use of the current product release. The release number changes only when a significant portion of a document changes to support a new or updated product release. If no substantive changes are made to a document, the release number does not change. For example, a document for r7 may still be valid for r7.1 or even r7.2. Documentation bookshelves always reflect the current product release number.

Occasionally, we must update documentation outside of a new or updated release. To indicate a minor change to the documentation that does not invalidate it for any releases that it supports, we update the edition number on the cover page. First editions do not have an edition number.

    10.0 Contact Technical Support

For online technical assistance and a complete list of locations, primary service hours, and telephone numbers, contact Technical Support at http://ca.com/support.

Please Note: R7.x requires a new license. If you are upgrading from r4.1.4, your existing r4.1.4 license will not enable r7.x to run as it would for an r4.1.4 Service Pack. However, both r7.x and r4.1.4 can run concurrently on your system.

To install this product after downloading (without having received a box with a new license number), you will need to contact your Total License Care (TLC) group to obtain a license. To do this, you can Open an issue over the web, or you can Contact TLC by telephone. You will need your Site ID for your TLC representative to verify maintenance. Other licensing information is available from the Product Home Page by clicking on the License Keys link in the Downloads Section of the Product Home Page.

The link below will provide you with a self-extracting zip file of r7. To download an ISO CD Image, click on the Products link in the Downloads section of the Product Home Page. To run the ISO CD Image, you will need to copy it to a CD, or download a third party utility as described in the link Unpackaging Your Downloaded CA Products in the Downloads, Products, section of SupportConnect.
